Within the last few months, five separate Hydro Group companies have decided to Purchase TARDIS aluminium dross cooling and pressing systems. These recent installations include: Hoyanger Metalwork in Norway, the Henderson remelt plant in the USA, the newly acquired Deeside Aluminium plant in the UK, Hydro Madrid and Hydro Ardal. HydroGroup already has extensive operational experience with TARDIS at its Rackwitz remelt facility in Germany.

TARDIS is based around a number of patented technological advances, which combine to create a system now proven to be the best available solution to dross cooling. The cornerstones of the TARDIS technology include the air-cooled press head, which rapidly cools even the hottest drosses thereby minimising the oxidation of available metal and ensuring maximum overall metal recovery. Other advances include the emission removal system, which ensures complete compliance with all known environmental legislation, and a unique rocking head device which manipulates the dross to encourage maximum separation of metal from oxides.

TARDIS is now operating in more than 100 aluminium-melting companies worldwide. As well as the latest Hydro systems, other new installations include Southwire, Noranda and Bonnell, all of which are in the United States. In the past few weeks, McIntyre have also shipped three machines to New Zealand Aluminium Smelters, and machines to Alcoa in the USA, and Toten in Norway. Other recent TARDIS installations include two machines at the Alba plant in Bahrain, a second machine for Milver Metals in the UK, and one at Epalme in Greece.
